What are kettlebells?

Kettlebells are cast iron balls with handles. Due to its unique shape, the weight of a kettlebell is not distributed evenly (unlike dumbbells). The "bell" is always pulling away from the body's center of gravity creating a greater need to counterbalance and stabilize during your workout. The need to stabilize builds great core strength.

Why train with kettlebells?

Kettlebells deliver all around fitness and offer the unique benefit of simultaneously training strength and endurance while improving flexibility. Kettlebells work all the major muscles groups and stabilizers in the body creating and amazingly effective a full body workout in less time making them an ideal choice for busy people. Most importantly, kettlebells are fun! You will be hard pressed to find a more versatile, portable, effective, time efficient, simple, and fun fitness tool.

Recently, ACE, a well-respected fitness certification, conducted a study to test the claims being made by kettlebell users. Coming as no surprise to those who regularly use kettlebells, ACE determined that kettlebells do, in fact, live up to their claims getting twice the results in half the time. Kettlebells burn more calories in less time than almost any other form of exercise and, in my opinion, are more fun! Read more!!!

Are kettlebells safe?

Yes, kettlebells are very safe when used properly. Unfortunately, due their recent surge in popularity, there has been an abundance of questionable training techniques being taught by well meaning but inexperienced trainers. Once proper form and technique are learned kettlebells, like most fitness tools, can be used safely by almost everyone of any age.

Do you train exclusively with kettlebells?

While kettlebells are my personal favorite and preferred method of training, I use a variety of equipment to based on individual client's needs and desires including ropes, dumbbells, barbells, body weight, stability balls, medicine balls, and martial art drills. I'm also happy to teach you to use equipment you may already own.

I have a home gym but I don't know how to use it.  Can you help?

Yes, I can come to your home and show you the best exercises to use your home gym most efficiently and effectively.

Do I need my own equipment?

No. I am more than happy to bring equipment.

What is the RKC certification?

The RKC stands for Russian Kettlebell Certification or Challenge.  It is the most respected and well known kettlebell certification in the world.  The RKC is something that must be trained for and earned with 20- 30% of the attendees not receiving their certification.
